The fate of Lugano airport and its employees is at risk.
The Board of Directors and the Management of Lugano Airport SA on February 10, 2020 notified and warned their 74 employees of the arrival of a precautionary termination (i.e. preventive dismissal) valid for the end of April 2020.
The meeting was held behind closed doors in the presence of union representatives to try to find a solution favorable to both parties.
The Board of Directors and the LASA, as stated in the press note, say they are sorry for the decision taken and that if the people were to agree with the referendants, this would have repercussions not only for the employees but also for those who showed up at the airport with their activities.
THE POPULAR VOTE
The preventive dismissal of employees will not be considered valid if the result of the two popular votes is positive.
The date of the cantonal votes, which will mark the fate of Lugano airport, has been set for Sunday, April 26, 2020 and has been decided and approved by the Council of State.
While for the municipal referendum, the signatures collected will be submitted to the authorities of the City of Lugano and the date scheduled for the vote will be the same, April 26, 2020.
